Blessings From Above!

There were many beautiful things that were said and felt during Courtney's Baby Blessing, I thought I would share a few of them.

*You are blessed with a kind, pure and compassionate heart. Your compassion will fill you with the ability to give continually.

*You will have a good relationship with your mother and brother. Emulating the good qualities of your mother.

*Your genuine concern for your older brother and your relationship will last decades even throughout your lifetime.

*Rely on your faith when faced with rough decisions.

*You will be blessed with a quiet confidence about you, even the ability to stand alone.

*Do what is right! Your desire for righteousness will lead to your happiness, your countenance will show your happiness.

*You will look back on your life and know that you were blessed.

*You are blessed with a mind that will assimilate the knowledge of the world as it applies to the gospel.

Courtney's Baby Blessing

On such special days as these when you give your baby a name and a blessing, you always hope everything goes smoothly and is just as you pictured or hoped for, creating a special memory. Well, I will share some of the special blessings Courtney was given in just a minute, I first wanted to share an experience we had that is funny now when we look back on it but it wasn't funny to me at the moment! None the less it has created quite a memory.

Our Sacrament Meeting is last, so we went to our classes first before blessing our sweet little girl. I left Sunday School early so that I could feed and change her so that she would be happy and ready for her shining moment. I could hear that she had been working on a diaper so I decided to change her first. I noticed her diaper had leaked and her tights had a little spot on them - no big deal. As I kept taking off the layers of clothing to get to her diaper I realized this wasn't just a small leak. She had poop clear up her back, on her onesie and I was just hoping it had not gotten on her dress. Sure enough there was a spot about the size of an orange on the back of her dress. My heart was pounding and I wasn't moving very fast because I couldn't believe what I was seeing and didn't know where to start. I thought family would now be arriving, so I wrapped a blanket around Courtney and hurried out into the Chapel to see if my mom or somebody was there that could help. I felt like I had tunnel vision as I ran in grabbed my mom, just ignoring everybody else. My mom stayed with Courtney trying to get her all cleaned up while I ran her dress under water trying to get the poop out. Well I succeeded and got the dress clean, but it was soaking wet and cold - paper towels were just not doing the job to get it dry. One of my Young Women had come into the bathroom and I asked her to go tell Chad what was going on. By this time Sacrament Meeting had started, they sung the hymn, the prayer was said (as well as many within my heart to help me) and it was almost time for the blessing. My mom was washing out her headband and tights while I gave Courtney a quite sip to drink. We were down the the last few minutes. I wanted to just put her dress on, but in all reality she would probably be freezing which would make her cry the whole time. I had an extra white onsie in the diaper bag, we threw that on her and just put her lacy overlay on top of it, wrapped a blanket around her bare legs and topped her off with her white headband. My mom kept trying to convince me that it would be just fine. I could then hear the Bishop over the intercom announcing for all those invited in the circle for Courtney Peterson's baby blessing to come up front. I grabbed Courtney and literally ran into the chapel and passed her off to Chad and they both joined everybody else up front. I sat down in the nearest bench I could find, which was next to my sister-in-law Alicia. I looked over to her and said, "She is only wearing half a dress, her diaper leaked!" She calmly reminded me, "That's not the important part." As nerve racking as it was to feel like I didn't have something for her to wear on her special day, what was coming next was what mattered - the blessing from her Heavenly Father!

Chad asked, as we were getting ready for church, if I was going to put Courtney in her blessing dress now or change her into it later. They don't get to wear their blessing outfits for very long as it is, so I wanted to let her wear it to all the meeting that day. But after our experience that day I would now think twice about how long I keep a baby in a beautiful WHITE blessing dress.

Precious Little Feet! She definitely has her daddy's feet - long, thin and narrow with a little space between her big toe and her second toe. How cute!

Like Father - Like Son!

Cameron loves learning new things, especially the fun things his daddy shows him. I will often tell him when he shows me something new, "that was tricky, where did you learn that." "from my dad!"

Our Precious Little Girl!

Courtney has brought such a sweet spirit into our home and family. Cameron has realized she is here to stay and has also grown quite fond of her.  He really is stepping into the role of being a big brother by protecting her.  My little nephew Logan is 1 years old and loves being right up close to Courtney, touching her and giving her loves.  Whenever Cameron sees him coming, he comes running to make sure his little sister is ok and is not being attacked.

We really have come a long way. We have gone from Cameron saying, "Please put sister down" to "Is sister awake yet?" However, when he said this he wanted to pop a balloon and I told him he couldn't until Courtney woke up. So... I guess he decided to go up to her room and give her a little help, then came to me saying, "Mom, she's awake and is crying, she needs you!" I then said, "Did somebody wake her up?" His reply was, "Ya, me!" You have gotta love the honesty these kids have.

My Little Boy is Growing Up!

I have had Cameron in a gymnastics class, which he loves. We took a break a couple weeks before Courtney was born until the beginning of January. He was eager to go back and so was I. I love watching him learn new things and helping him with the different gymnastic moves. When we went back the coach said he really could move up to the Tiny Tots class instead of the Parent and Tots class since he had turned 3 years old, listened well and was quite a bit more advanced than the younger kids in his class. Well, last week was his first time in class without me, I just watched in the lobby from the window. He was ready for the change and loved it. I think he liked the independence, being in the same class as his friend Ethan and felt like a pretty big boy not needing mom to help him. However I don't know that I was as ready or prepared. It really hit me hard that my little boy is growing up!
