We were able to welcome Courtney Marie Peterson into our home today about 6:30 pm today. Bringing home a new baby just
invites a feeling of love, calmness and togetherness, as life finally slows down to appreciate the miracle of life.
Over the last week, DeEsta and I played numerous scenarios over in our mind as we tried to prepare for the big moment. As of
Monday evening, I was working down in Gunnison wondering "any second now" and praying I wouldn't get a phone call and have
to rush home.
Additionally, we sure were hoping that Grandma & Grandpa Peterson would be home from their trip to Korea to provide back up in case she came through the night.
Well, I got home at 7:00, Grandma & Grandpa got home at 9:00, and sure enough 5 hours later at 2:30 the next morning DeEsta
began to have contractions. We waited for about 15 minutes, called Grandma, and she came down to sleep with Cameron, while
DeEsta and I raced to the hospital. We arrived about 3:30 am, the had her in a room about 3:45, and our little girl was born at
4:30 am on October 21.
Soon after we got there, the nurses did a quick assessment and asked if DeEsta wanted the ever-relaxing epidural. YES! was her
answer . . . but the anesthesiologist was already in surgery, and guess what, she was already dilated to an 8!
It's a good thing that her doctor was on call, and already in the hospital, or heaven for bid I would have had to jump in.
So after about 10-15 minutes of pushing, our little girl joined our family without complications. I'm glad it went quick or else I'm
sure she would have tracked down that anesthesiologist and chewed him out.
So we're all at home for the first time tonight. Grandma brought dinner, and we're excited about our new addition.
Love everyone
